I’m Nadia, and I live in Southeast Scarborough, Ontario. I’m trying to find my blogging “groove.” Writing what I know, you’ll find posts about community initiatives I’m involved in, the great outdoors, family matters and other things that interest me.
Right now, what’s important to me is my work with the Guildwood Refugee Action Committee (GRACE). We’re a group of people from the neighbourhood who got together and decided to raise funds and friends to support a Syrian family to settle in Scarborough in 2016. If this resonates with you, check out these couple of posts:
Not only do I support GRACE as a fundraiser, fundraising is my career! I sometimes tweet about it @NadiaHeyd.
I also like getting outside. I love camping, and an almost annual treat for me is a canoe trip to Algonquin. A more everyday treat form me is a walk in the lovely woods or along the beaches close to home. I sometimes advocate for places and spaces, and creatures that inhabit them. That advocacy happens on twitter as well. Maybe it’ll happen here in the future.
I’d like to be more connected and in tune with the people and places around me, and that’s what’s motivating me to be here.
I invite you to have a look around, keep coming back, and leave a comment if something inspires you to.
